The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), in collaboration with the Working Group on Developing the Low-altitude Economy under the HKSAR Government and the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance, today hosted the forum "Future of Low Altitude Economy: An Inter-City Dialogue on Commercialization and Standardization".The forum brought together more than 300 representatives from government, academia, industry, and research organizations from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and overseas to explore opportunities and challenges in advancing the low-altitude economy (LAE). Discussions focused on commercialization, standardization, technological innovation, and cross-sector collaboration, with the shared goal of fostering a robust, sustainable, and globally connected LAE ecosystem.

As outlined in the Chief Executive's 2025 Policy Address, Hong Kong is actively advancing "AI+" development through the acceleration of AI industrialization, the wider adoption of AI across industries, and its deeper integration of AI into various sectors. These initiatives are designed to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a global hub for AI innovation. Against this backdrop, developing AI-ready talent has become a crucial priority for enhancing the city's long-term competitiveness.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Times Higher Education (THE) co-hosted the Asia Universities Summit 2026 from April 22 to 24. Under the theme "Igniting Global Transformation: Asia's Leadership," the three-day premier event explores Asia's pivotal role in reshaping global innovation and addressing pressing societal challenges through higher education.The Summit holds particular significance as it coincides with HKUST’s 35th anniversary and marks a decade of partnership between the University and THE since the inaugural summit. This year's event has attracted over 600 university presidents, policymakers, and industry titans from 25 countries and regions, underscoring a collective commitment to advancing the academic landscape across the continent.

A staunch commitment to strengthening links with industry, academia, and research, while driving talent development and innovation, was proudly on display at HKUST during a special event titled “Afternoon of Insights” featuring Ms. DONG Mingzhu, Chairman of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai.Ms. Dong shared her valuable experiences and perspectives on corporate management and talent development at GREE during the event on March 26 in front of an enthusiastic crowd of over 600 students, alumni, and faculty members, both in person and online. Held as part of HKUST’s 35th anniversary celebrations, the event began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Charles NG, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement at HKUST, who thanked Ms. Dong for visiting the University and engaging with the community.
