The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a generous donation of HKD 30 million from Futu Securities International (Hong Kong) Limited (Futu) to support the University’s innovation and research development, as well as to establish a new scholarship recognizing outstanding HKUST students. In appreciation of Futu’s dedicated support, the University has named a multi-purpose learning facility at the Lee Shau Kee Library as the “Futu Academic Pavilion,” which serving as a key academic center for its faculty and students to engage in teaching, group discussions, and individual learning. This initiative not only underscores the importance of industry-academia collaboration in talent development but also lays a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between the two parties.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today unveiled a display case featuring a signed leather jacket gifted by its esteemed alumnus Dr. Jensen HUANG, the Founder and CEO of NVIDIA.  The event also marked the formal establishment of the HKUST Top Engineering Scholars Award, made possible by generous donation from Dr. Huang and Mr. Terry TSANG Kin-Chung, an HKUST Council Member and fellow engineering alumnus.

HKUST will enhance its flexible admissions arrangement for students applying for 2022 intake via JUPAS.

Defying circumstances and overcoming challenges, HKUST undergraduate Kevin LEUNG sets an example by winning himself an incredible 15 scholarships.

From a terminal heart failure patient to a university student, mentor, and public speaker, HKUST’s third-year business management student Krishna JHANGIANI (KJ) has hardly had a conventional study journey. Recently recognized by the Dean of Students’ Office for his community service, KJ is the embodiment of resilience, and determined to innovate to give himself and others a new lease of life. “It was like living in a bubble for 16 years and the bubble just popped,” KJ describes his near-death experience. From the massive smile that he is wearing, you would struggle to believe what he has been through.

Master's and doctoral graduates can only be researchers? Not really!

HKUST’s emphases on science and technology disciplines does not deter artistic talents from pursuing their studies and interests in creative endeavors. The University offers a wide range of scholarships to honor students also for their outstanding non-academic achievements. To promote the scholarly legacy of Dr. Joseph NEEDHAM through a future community of “Needham Scholars”, HKUST and Joseph Needham Foundation for Science & Civilisation Hong Kong (JNFSC) join hands to launch a Merit Scholarship program to draw high-caliber students to contribute to the field of science, especially in the STEM areas, with a focus on humanity at the same time.
