HKUST Explores Marine Sciences at French Science Festival
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted the French Science Festival with the theme “Oceans of Knowledge” from October 6-7, 2024, on campus for general public.Organized in partnership with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau, the festival showcased HKUST's world-class capabilities in marine science research and education. Through a diverse range of public activities including talks, film screening, hands-on workshops, virtual reality experiences, and tours of HKUST's state-of-the-art Ocean Research Facility, participants delved deep into conservation and sustainable utilization of marine resources.

Harrow International School Hong Kong Wins Gold Award at the 2023 Hang Lung Mathematics Awards
The 2023 Hang Lung Mathematics Awards (“HLMA”), co-organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (“HKUST”) and Hang Lung Properties Limited (“Hang Lung Properties”), announced this year’s winners recently. Kyan CHEUNG Ka-Hin and Ethan SOH Jon-Yi from Harrow International School Hong Kong received the Gold Award for their research report titled “On the Properties of the Semigroup Generated by the RL Fractional Integral”. MOK Chun-Hei and WONG Hei from S.K.H. Tsang Shiu Tim Secondary School and TAM Hei-Tung from HKUGA College won the Silver Award and the Bronze Award, respectively. They demonstrated exceptional problem-solving abilities and creativity in tackling complex mathematical problems.

HKUST Embraces the Power of Philanthropy with CEO of the Fondation de France
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted a visit from the Fondation de France (FDF), led by Mrs. Axelle DAVEZAC, CEO of the organization, along with Mr. Frédéric THÉRET, Director of Marketing and Development, and Mr. Julien-Loic GARIN, Director of Fondation de France Asia. FDF, the largest philanthropic organization in France, is dedicated to nurturing private philanthropy and foundations. The organization unites donors, founders, and volunteers to support an impressive 8,000 charitable causes each year.

HKUST and Tsinghua University Jointly Organize International AI Forum Gathering World’s Top Experts to Construct Global Framework for AI Governance
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Tsinghua University jointly launched the ‘International AI Cooperation and Governance Forum 2023’ today. The two-day forum brings together over 50 world-renowned artificial intelligence (AI) experts, scholars, industry leaders, government representatives and international organization delegates to explore the opportunities and challenges brought by cutting-edge technologies such as generative AI, and discuss strategies for building a comprehensive global governance framework for the new technology.

HKUST Joins Forces with Cornell University to Advance Research and Education
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed the ‘HKUST-Cornell Cooperation Agreement’ with Cornell University to collaborate on teaching, training, and cutting-edge research on February 9.Leveraging the expertise of both universities, the two forward-thinking partners will work together to explore new opportunities for joint activities and strengthen academic exchange and research collaborations across disciplines. Highlighting the common goals to address global issues, " There are many big areas we can collaborate on, such as sustainability, new energy and aging society." said HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike.

HKUST Co-hosts Unity Games to Promote Diversity and Inclusion
Over 400 students from different universities, amateurs and professional athletes from a diverse cultural background, gender identity and ethnicity joined the Unity Games – a two-day sports event co-hosted between The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2023 (GGHK) during the weekend, as part of the University’s unceasing efforts to promote diversity, equality and inclusion.

The HKUST Global Days of Changemaking (rebranded from HKUST Service Learning Day) with the aim to mobilize all HKUST members to take action and solve social problems in their communities to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students, faculty, staff and alumni in Hong Kong or those currently living overseas can engage in various changemaking efforts coordinated by HKUST Connect to contribute to initiatives that improve their communities.
