HKUST renamed its Talent Hub as the "Yip Kit Chuen and Yuen Yuk Hing Talent Hub", following a generous donation from Dr. YIP Kit-Chuen, Founder of GEW Corporation and Chairman of GEW Holdings. 

HKUST strengthened academic ties with Renmin University of China (RUC) by signing a framework agreement and an undergraduate student exchange agreement during RUC’s inauguration of its Hong Kong institute. 

Led by MAE Chair Prof. SUN Qingping, researchers have developed the world’s first Sub-Zero Celsius elastocaloric freezing device, achieving temperatures as low as -12℃, and showcasing HKUST’s expertise in sustainable technology. 

In an exclusive interview with HKEJ, P Prof. Nancy IP stated that HKUST will launch Hong Kong's third medical school, offering a four-year second-degree program integrating technology and interdisciplinary learning to develop research-minded, tech-savvy doctors. 

SENG hosted its inaugural Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award Ceremony, honoring ECE Adjunct Prof. Jack LAU, Council Member Mr. Terry TSANG Kin-Chung and DJI founder Mr. Frank WANG for their outstanding achievements and contributions.  

MAE Asst. Prof. HU Wenqi and MAE PG student Mr. CHEN Xi, in collaboration with Scientists from the Physical Intelligence Department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart and Koc University in Istanbul created artificial cilia from hydrogel, which can be moved individually or in groups by applying an electric field.  

HKUST hosted the inaugural Nobel Heroes@HKUST, welcoming four Nobel laureates – Prof. Tim HUNT (Physiology or Medicine 2001), Prof. Louis J. IGNARRO (Physiology or Medicine 1998), Prof. Robert C. MERTON (Economic Sciences 1997) and Prof. Konstantin NOVOSELOV (Physics 2010). 

A research team led by ECE Chair Prof. Kevin CHEN Jing has released a p-GaN gate double-channel gallium nitride power integration platform.

A team led by ISD Asst. Prof. Richard GU Hongri, in collaboration with experts in mechanical engineering and biomedicine, has developed an innovative automated nanoprobe. 

A research team from HKUST and Zhejiang University has developed a material that can hide objects from thermal cameras in any environment.  

A research team from HKUST and the University of Technology Sydney has released POSEIDON, a large-scale, physics-informed AI system designed to improve earthquake prediction and hazard assessment.  

A joint research team from HKUST and Qingdao University has developed ET-TENG, a self-powered eye-tracking system based on the principle of a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG).
