In a contributed article, Medical Education Task Force Co-chair Prof. FOK Tai-Fai highlighted that HKUST School of Medicine will leverage its strengths in interdisciplinary education and cutting-edge technology to drive medical innovation and cultivate future healthcare leaders.

A study from HKUST and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania found that when placed in simulated markets, AI trading bots did not compete with one another but rather began colluding in price-fixing behaviors.  

A team comprising members from HKUST, the University of Edinburgh, CUHK, and Huawei Technologies has developed MEMORY-T1, a novel reinforcement learning framework addressing the critical challenge of temporal reasoning over long, multi-session dialogues. 

A HKUST research team has developed LongVideoAgent, a framework in which a master agent coordinates a grounding agent to localize question-relevant segments and a vision agent to extract targeted textual observations.

A team led by CSE/ECE Assoc. Prof. CHEN Qifeng has collaborated with Meituan to develop an intelligent framework called ORCA. The framework enables virtual characters to possess true "active intelligence", allowing them to autonomously observe, think, act, and reflect.

In collaboration with Chinese Mainland's biotechnology company BioMap, HKUST has incorporated the world's first life science large model into the “Data Science for Molecular Engineering” course, allowing students to grasp AI-driven research methodologies early on. 

HKUST(GZ) has partnered with teams from Alibaba and the University of Florida to develop MobileWorld, a substantially more challenging benchmark designed to better reflect real-world mobile usage. 

A HKUST(GZ) research team has developed "PhysBrain", a system that transforms first-person videos into structured knowledge. This allows robots to understand and learn human actions, thereby improving their operational performance.

StereoPilot, jointly proposed by HKUST(GZ) and Kuaishou's Kling Team, enables fast and high-quality end-to-end conversion of 2D videos to 3D videos, removing the need for expensive manual processes or inefficient depth reprojection for 2D to 3D conversion.

Research led by Global STEM Professor and CIVL Chair Prof. SU Hui, EMIA Asso. Prof. ZHAI Chengxing, and CIVL postdoctoral fellow Dr. WANG Cen, has found Arctic sea ice melt slowed markedly since 2012, with the decline rate easing from 11.3% per decade to an insignificant −0.4% per decade.

Researchers from HKUST, in collaboration with CUHK, HKU, Northwestern Polytechnical University and Nanjing University of Science and Technology, have developed the Robust-R1, enabling AI-trained models to operate reliably in visually challenging environments.
