CIVL Adjunct Prof. Raymond LEUNG is the co-author of an article on HK's proactive role in taking forward the Belt and Road Initiative over the past decade. 

HKUST and Joincap Capital Limited signed an MoU on 25 August to cooperate on HKUST startup projects, the government's Research, Academic and Industry Sectors One-plus Scheme, and other campus incubator programs. The collaboration aims to cultivate start-ups that positively impact society and the environment.

HKUST alumnus Matey YORDANOV founded ANTEI AI Innovation Hub and has developed an AI-powered system to detect the origin and size of factory emissions, intended for monitoring in Mainland China and other countries.

HKUST alumnus Dr. ZHANG Yunfe founded Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligent Technology, which has recently registered for IPO tutorial. The company, a pioneer in China's unmanned watercraft industry, specializes in the research and development, production, sales, and related services of unmanned watercraft.

HKUST has recruited more students from the countries of the Belt and Road Initiative such as India, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan in recent years, contributing to the "Study in HK" strategy.  

P Prof. Nancy IP said in a TVB program that HKUST and HKUST(GZ) are complementary to each other in nurturing innovative talent, introducing the "Redbird Cross Campus Study Program", which promotes resource sharing and synergy between the two campuses.  

HKUST is one of the organizer of the class themed on the No.92 China ocean expedition.  AP (Mainland Affairs) Prof. TONG Penger noted the event aimed to introduce the cutting-edge scientific research and expeditions, spark students' curiosity, deepen their understanding of marine science, and cultivate future leaders.  OCES/LIFS Chair Prof. QIAN Peiyuan indicated the activity is a good start to cultivate primary and secondary school students' interest in marine science, strengthen international cooperation and encourage young people to engage in marine scientific research.  

A research team led by PHYS/CHEM Assoc. Prof. PAN Ding and PHYS Research Asst. Prof. LI Shuo-Hui has developed a novel direct sampling method based on deep generative models.  This method enables efficient sampling of the Boltzmann distribution across a continuous temperature range.  The findings have been published in Physical Review Letters.  

In an article on the high life expectancy in HK, SOSC/ PPOL Prof. Stuart GIETEL-BASTEN was quoted as attributing the increasing life expectancy to relatively high income, social safety nets, proximity to primary healthcare and a relatively healthy lifestyle and diet.  

HKUST held a back-to-school carnival titled "Fire Up Your Year" yesterday. Prof. Nancy Ip alongside the management team, faculty members warmly welcomed the new cohort of students and encouraged all students, faculty, staff, and alumni to embody the University’s “can-do spirit.”
