HKUST and Joincap Capital Limited signed an MoU on 25 August to cooperate on HKUST startup projects, the government's Research, Academic and Industry Sectors One-plus Scheme, and other campus incubator programs. The collaboration aims to cultivate start-ups that positively impact society and the environment.

AP (Mainland Affairs) Prof. TONG Penger noted the event aimed to introduce the cutting-edge scientific research and expeditions, spark students' curiosity, deepen their understanding of marine science, and cultivate future leaders. OCES/LIFS Chair Prof. QIAN Peiyuan indicated the activity is a good start to cultivate primary and secondary school students' interest in marine science, strengthen international cooperation and encourage young people to engage in marine scientific research.
A research team led by PHYS/CHEM Assoc. Prof. PAN Ding and PHYS Research Asst. Prof. LI Shuo-Hui has developed a novel direct sampling method based on deep generative models. This method enables efficient sampling of the Boltzmann distribution across a continuous temperature range. The findings have been published in Physical Review Letters.
