Led by MAE Chair Prof. SUN Qingping, researchers have developed the world’s first Sub-Zero Celsius elastocaloric freezing device, achieving temperatures as low as -12℃, and showcasing HKUST’s expertise in sustainable technology. 

In an exclusive interview with HKEJ, P Prof. Nancy IP stated that HKUST will launch Hong Kong's third medical school, offering a four-year second-degree program integrating technology and interdisciplinary learning to develop research-minded, tech-savvy doctors.

A research team led by ECE Chair Prof. Kevin CHEN Jing has released a p-GaN gate double-channel gallium nitride power integration platform.

A team led by ISD Asst. Prof. Richard GU Hongri, in collaboration with experts in mechanical engineering and biomedicine, has developed an innovative automated nanoprobe. 

A research team from HKUST and Zhejiang University has developed a material that can hide objects from thermal cameras in any environment.  

A research team from HKUST and the University of Technology Sydney has released POSEIDON, a large-scale, physics-informed AI system designed to improve earthquake prediction and hazard assessment.  

A joint research team from HKUST and Qingdao University has developed ET-TENG, a self-powered eye-tracking system based on the principle of a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG).  

In an exclusive interview by i-Cable TV, Prof. FOK Tai-Fai, co-chairman of the Medical Education Task Force, expressed confidence that most HKUST SMED graduates will remain in Hong Kong to practice, given their 4-year local training, exposure to HK diseases and hospitals, and registration as local doctors. 

The HKSAR Government has reappointed Prof. Harry SHUM as HKUST Council Chairman, Ms. Kitty CHOI Kit-Yu as a Council Member, and Dr. Andrew LIAO Cheung-Sing as HKUST Court Chairman for three-year terms.
