The School of Business and Management of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) is now one of the world's top 75 business schools offering Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs, according to the latest business education rankings released today by the Financial Times.

HKUST and HKIEd Offer Joint IT Teacher Education Programme
The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed an academic collaboration agreement today (17 January 2000), signifying their mutual commitment to exploring academic interchanges. Signed by Professor Ruth Hayhoe, Director of HKIEd, and Professor Chia-Wei Woo, President of HKUST, the agreement includes the joint offering of a new four-year full-time degree programme “Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mathematics / Information Technology Education” from September 2000.

Young HKUST Biochemist Awarded Research Funding from National Natural Science Foundation
Dr. Fwu-Shan Sheu, Assistant Professor in the Biochemistry Department at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), has received RMB 400,000 in funding from the Overseas Young Scholar Collaboration Research Grant 1999 of the National Natural Science Foundation.The Foundation received a total of 807 applications from overseas scientists in the field of biomedical sciences in 1999. Dr. Sheu is the only one in the field of life sciences and also one of the three young Hong Kong scientists in all the fields to be awarded research funds from the Foundation last year.Dr. Sheu's research topic is "The redox effect of nitric oxide on single ion channel activities: a study of molecular mechanism for neural plasticity". Dr. Sheu's research is likely to have positive impact on the development of drugs on enhancing memory in learning.

I was quite a bad student until I found my passion.Having dreamed of working in the gaming industry from a young age, Prof. Kenneth LEUNG, Assistant Professor of Engineering Education at HKUST’s School of Engineering never thought he would become a professor one day, let alone winning a teaching award.  “I was quite a bad student until I went to college,” recounts the winner of the HKUST 2021 Common Core Teaching Excellence Award. “But then I discovered an interest in computer science and continued my studies in the graduate level.
