In an interview, CBE Assoc. Prof. Yoonseob KIM explained the groundbreaking advancement in calcium-ion battery (CIB) technology, which could reshape energy storage solutions in everyday life.  

HKUST ranked second in the "Most International University in the World" by Times Higher Education for 2026. 

HKUST and HKUST(GZ) have jointly developed ReflexiCoder, a framework that enables AI models to develop self-reflection and error-correction capabilities when generating code. 

Led by HKUST, HK Space Robotics and Energy Centre (HKSREC) has signed an MoU with Southeast University (SEU) to establish a long-term strategic partnership, with focuses on research innovation, technology transfer, and talent cultivation.

HKUST officially launched its 35th anniversary celebrations with a vibrant ceremony. 

During the themed event of "GZ & HK: An Enduring Partnership for GBA", HKUST, HK Science & Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and Yuexiu Group inaugurated an innovation center promoting technology-industry integration between GZ and HK. Multiple collaborative projects were signed. 

Institutions including HKUST have jointly developed the Progressive Residual Warmup (ProRes) method, which enables AI models to follow an "early layer learns first" philosophy similar to human learning.

At the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, 36 teams from HKUST and 26 teams from HKUST (GZ) won a total of 62 accolades. This year's results not only surpass the University's previous records but also deliver a 100% award rate among its participating teams, with the highest number of awards among all higher education institutions in HK. 

In a video interview with HKEJ, P Prof. Nancy IP shared her vision for HKUST’s new medical school, which integrates technology and interdisciplinary learning to nurture tech-savvy, research-minded doctors with strong clinical competence.

The government announced that the Task Group on the New Medical School has set up three working groups to support the HKUST‑led project: one on program and faculty development, one on hospital teaching and research support, and one on financing and infrastructure. 

HKUST, together with the other seven UGC-funded universities, co-hosted the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) 2026 Conference and Exhibition.
