科大揭太平洋溫度改變加速北極海冰融化

Led by scholars from HKUST, a research team led by Prof. SU Hui, Chair Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Global STEM Professor, has discovered that, since the early 2000s, both sea surface temperature changes near the equator and the associated atmospheric adjustments over the Pacific have accelerated markedly—becoming a key driver of the increasingly rapid loss of Arctic sea ice during autumn.

HKUST showcased its award-winning inventions, which were recognized at the 51st Geneva Inventions Expo. The University's 62 participating teams won a total of 62 accolades, including 13 Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury, 20 Gold Medals, 20 Silver Medals, and 9 Bronze Medals, setting a new record for the University and making it the highest-awarded higher education institution in HK.

ITC announced that eight proposals have been approved for admission to the third InnoHK research cluster, SEAM@InnoHK, with total funding support of around HK$2.5 billion.  Among the approved proposals are two research centers led by HKUST: the Hong Kong Center for Renewable Energy and Storage (HKCRES) and the Power Semiconductors and Applications Center (PowerSAC).
